Custom Outdoor Parking Payment Kiosk: IP65, 10.1" Touchscreen & POS

CRTLY recently completed a small batch of 10 customized outdoor parking payment kiosks for a customer in Europe.

For this project, the customer already had its own parking software and POS terminal. CRTLY's role was to manufacture and customize the kiosk hardware around those existing requirements.

The finished unit combines a compact 10.1-inch touchscreen, full-cabinet IP65 protection, customer-specific POS mounting, automatic heating and cooling, and a fully customized exterior design.

This was a hardware-focused OEM project.

The parking application and business logic were supplied by the customer. CRTLY provided the kiosk enclosure, display, touchscreen, internal hardware structure, temperature-control system and mechanical integration for the customer's POS terminal.

The cabinet shape, logo placement and exterior graphics were also produced according to the customer's design.

This approach is suitable for parking operators and software companies that already have their own platform but need dedicated outdoor hardware to run it.

The kiosk uses a 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 × 800 and brightness of 1000 nits.

Optical bonding is used between the display and touch panel. The touchscreen was also adjusted for outdoor operation to reduce interference from moisture and light rain on the screen surface.

The smaller display keeps the cabinet compact while still providing enough space for the customer's parking application.

The complete kiosk cabinet is designed to IP65 protection level for outdoor installation.

The enclosure is manufactured from galvanized steel and finished with outdoor-grade paint.

Because IP protection depends on the complete structure rather than a single component, the screen opening, POS installation area, cabinet joints and other external openings all need to be considered during the mechanical design.

The kiosk is designed for an operating temperature range of -20°C to 70°C.

The cabinet includes internal temperature monitoring.

When the internal temperature rises above 30°C, the cooling fan starts automatically.

When the temperature falls below 0°C, a ceramic heater starts heating the internal cabinet. The heater switches off after the temperature rises above 20°C.

This automatic temperature-control system helps maintain a more stable environment for the display, computer, POS hardware and other internal components during outdoor operation.

The POS terminal in this project was supplied by the customer.

CRTLY designed the required opening and mounting bracket according to the dimensions and installation requirements of the device.

This allows customers to continue using their existing payment provider or locally certified POS terminal without changing their payment system simply to fit a standard kiosk cabinet.

The exterior graphics were also customized for this project.

Instead of using screen printing, the logo and graphic elements were produced with UV color printing on UV-resistant transparent PVC film and then applied to the cabinet surface.

This method is suitable for outdoor branding and is designed to resist UV exposure, fading and peeling during long-term use.

It also gives the customer more flexibility for full-color logos, QR codes and other graphic elements compared with simple single-color printing.

The first production batch consisted of 10 units.

For a customized kiosk project, a small initial batch allows the customer to deploy the hardware in its actual parking environment before moving to larger-scale production.

The cabinet can be revised in future batches if the customer changes the screen, POS terminal or other hardware.
